Upfest 2024

In June 2024, I was asked to take part in this year's UPFEST festival in Bristol. UPFEST is the largest street art festival in Europe and gathers award winning artists from across the globe to take part in decorating Bedminster and Southville with incredible murals. This takes place over a month with weekends of events held in local venues - one of which is getting artists to paint smaller artworks that can be sold later on to help fund the festival. This is where I was, painting alongside some amazing artists and illustrators from all over the country. The boards we painted were 180cmx180cm and we could paint whatever we wanted on these boards.

The design I came up with was inspired by the band Frightened Rabbit and their song Head Rolls Off which has the lyrics 'while I'm alive, I'll make tiny changes to Earth'. In 2018, the frontman for the band, Scott Hutchison, took his own life so I wanted to use this platform to raise awareness about the horrific statistics of male suicide in the UK and also honour one of my favourite bands.
